About
I’m a TV reporter and anchor and lifelong Rochesterian. I grew up in the Maplewood neighborhood on beautiful Seneca Parkway and graduated from John Marshall High School and Cornell University.
I write about urban education, downtown, regional development, local and state politics, social media and technology. I believe strongly in the future of Rochester.
This website reflects my interest in online and entrepreneurial journalism. I’d love to grow The Rochesterian. Advertising opportunities are just a click away.
The Rochesterian launched in December 2011. Less than a year later, readers of City Newspaper, the area’s definitive annual poll, named it Best Blog.
Find me on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
Views expressed on The Rochesterian are my own.
Thank you for being here.

Very nice website Rachel. Smart, informative and positive.
Rochester is a great town, if we could all just bring ourselves to admit it! We need a bit less complaining in our public discourse (see rockville.com)and a little more public participation from our twenty/thirty somethings.
Good, high-tech jobs are returning here, we have a strong agricultural base and are an important “college town.” Despite Kodak this is a recipe for urban success.
Thanks for doing this.
Pete

Hi Rachel,
I just wanted to say good job with the website and the stories. I recently transferred to UAlbany, and I love to see what’s going on at home and the politics.
Once again good job, great stories and keep up the good work.
All the best,
Michael
